How did settlers moving west react to the treaties signed by Native Americans

The natives were angered by the invasion and took action and attacked the English settlers by shooting arrows and killing them. It did not help when John Smith was trying to calm them down by trying to make them under stand that they mean no harm the other English men were still angry and attacked the natives.
